So why is a wealth mentor important? Because we are changing our poverty-consciousness to wealth-consciousness. All we know right now is the world that was given to us as we grew up with our parents and through our experience since then. All the 'givens' about how things work and how things are have their roots in our past and in the influences we soaked up. In our thoughts and emotions, we operate according to the blueprint that our upbringing caused us to follow. We don't notice this in operation, as the wheels of our brains grind away. We don't realise how we are programmed by our past. We assume we are thinking pure, original thoughts, moment by moment, forged only out of our own being. But how we feel and think is habitual, the result of years of doing things a certain way. Years of reacting to circumstances in a certain way. Years of being shaped by our childhood environment, our parents, friends, school-teachers and wider community. We may have an habitual attachment to sadness, negativity, pessimism, anger, bitterness, insecurity. We don't even know these things, because they are so much a part of us. Wealth mentors come from outside the bubble of our world. They are not party to our attachments and habits and way of seeing things. They can stand apart and be objective. But they know our condition very well because it is the default human condition. In fact, most mentors were just like us once upon a time and they travelled the road we are now travelling. They know the route, with all its byways and cul-de-sacs, inside out. They know the bits where we try to fool ourselves, or go into blame and denial. They know how easy it is to lose focus and give up. They know! Wealth mentors can hold a candle for us in the darkness, lighting the way into our brave new unknown future. They keep us on the path. They stop us getting lost down the dead end tracks. They block out the noise of unhelpful people in our lives, who undermine our efforts. Our mentors can keep us on the straight and narrow path that leads to results. They are the guru on our shoulder, whispering to us to get back on track when we are tempted to stray. We may get to our journey's destination without a wealth mentor, but it will take us a lot longer. I always believe in hiring the best professionals to give me the use of their expertise in an area where my knowledge, or experience may be lacking. If you are poor, then to need expertise in wealth and success, because you don't have it yet. Finding a mentor you can trust is one of the most valuable things you can do in your quest for wealth and it ususally pays off handsomely in the grief and lost time that it saves.
