Rhonda Byrne --- Her 'Secret' Journey

Since The Secret exploded across the world, people have been asking Who is Rhonda Byrne and why have we not heard of her before?

rhonda byrne producer of The Secret movie and dvd Well, the glamorous blonde Australian woman named Rhonda Byrne was an obscure TV producer in her native country, whose career had taken a dip and whose life was not going well----like us, she was struggling. Struggling to cope with the situation she found herself in, struggling to cope with her lack of money, struggling to cope with her personal relationships. In other words, she was not some uber-successful, wealthy hot-shot, who headed up a corporate product which everyone knew would be a big money spinner.

The story of Rhonda Byrne and how she came to make The Secret movie is fascinating, because Rhonda's story is a living example of the Law of Attraction in action.

When life becomes difficult, we look for answers and explanations. We search for understanding. We want to learn what we have done wrong and how to do it better. We are looking for the key to the wealth and success that has eluded us. Just as you are doing now by visiting this website.

Well, a few years ago, Rhonda Byrne was doing the very same thing. And she began to read self-help books and learn about the Law of Attraction. She felt that this was the key she was searching for and she began to understand how her life had gone wrong----she was not working with the Law of Attraction, she was working against it.

At one of her lowest points, her daughter gave her a copy of The Science of Getting Rich, (the first free gift I always give to new members of the Money Angels Circle. You are welcome to join here.)

Rhonda was pretty mesmerised by the message of this little book. She realised that the Law of Attraction was known to a minority of people like her, who were lucky enough to happen upon it. But it was not part of mainstream knowledge. It was not a skill that ordinary people generally get to learn. It was like she had stumbled on a secret knowledge.

She then had the inspired idea of using her skills as a TV producer, even an unsuccessful one, to make these ideas more mainstream. To bring them together with the best teachers she could find, and present them in a way that would be accessible to a 21st century audience.

Her trials and tribulations along the way, in getting the movie made, are a testament to the power of belief. She wasn't a big producer who could easily summon up financial backing. Far from it, she struggled to raise the money and The Secret movie was shot on a shoestring budget, like many small indie films.

It was Rhonda's passion for the project and her determination to see it through to the end that got the movie made. It was shot in small hotel rooms, with very little fuss and hardly any script.

After shooting finished, the Australian TV channel that were supposed to have shown the movie pulled out, leaving Byrne with a movie on her hands, but nowhere to show it. It was released only on downloadable dvd with just word-of-mouth, internet marketing. Necessity truly was the mother of invention!

Byrne was convinced the power and truth of The Secret's message would carry the day and overcome her lack of any promotional budget, or absence of a movie theatre, or TV showing.

And so Rhonda Byrne's kookie little project, that looked unviable to the big players in the industry, became one of the most successful releases ever. Now millions of people across the world have learned about the secret Law of Attraction, in a way that is applicable to their 21st century lives.

Through her determination to bring the project to completion, Rhonda Byrne achieved great wealth and success in her own life, and so ended her personal struggles. Her little film about the Law of Attraction, challenged her to put the Law of Attraction to work in order to get it made. And when she did, the universe rewarded her handsomely.

Critics and Misinterpretations

The message of The Secret is so challenging to our habitual beliefs, that it naturally engendered some criticism and some misunderstanding. Some people thought that Rhonda Byrne was advocating a blame-the-victim ideology, whereby if we become ill, we are to blame for it.

I don't believe this was the message she intended. The notion of how we are responsible for the lives we create for ourselves, is an extremely complex and challenging one that is easy to misunderstand in a popular presentation such as The Secret.

In answering these questions, Rhonda Byrne has explained that it isn't a question of blame. It's more a question of realising that everything takes place within a bigger context. When we are cut off from cosmic harmony, our separation limits our beliefs. Whereas when we are in tune with the cosmos, we access a level of being where anything is possible.

Her response reminds me of the philosophy of the Kabbalah, where it is believed that everything exists already at a cosmic level. And it is our separation from the holy, creative force of the universe that makes us think that we are limited in what we can do and be.

Whatever situation we are in, we can react to it intentionally, consciously creating new possibilities, moment by moment, as we move into our future.

I think it is important to point out that the message of The Secret is that when bad things happen, blame is not useful. What is useful is to choose how we react.

We can react in a way that we intentionally move out of the darkness towards the light. Or we can become mired in the darkness brought about by the trauma we are suffering. We can allow it to swamp us and we can create even more negativity, by allowing bitterness and blame take over our thoughts. This only attracts more negativity to us and does not help us heal, get well, or recover from the hurt and trauma we have already suffered.

When life knocks us with a nasty blow, the lesson of The Secret is this:-

Your dominant thoughts create your future. Focus your way out of darkness towards light. Don't align yourself with the frequency of bad things, or you will become further enmeshed in their negative energy.

In the present moment, no matter what has happened to us, we always have a choice. We can chose fear, helplessness, or victimhood. Or we can choose to use our power in the present moment to react at a higher level---to align ourselves with good things and recognise how we can move out of the badness towards goodness.

You have to become on the inside what you want to be on the outside. But most of us react the opposite way to bad things. It is as if we take the outside badness into our beings and make it internal. But we should be doing the opposite---projecting outwards our intentions for happiness, wealth and success.
