Michael BeckwithRev. Michael Beckwith is the quite lovely, dreadlocked, glowing, preacherman, from The Secret movie. He also made two appearances on the Oprah show, talking about the Law of Attraction. Beckwith describes himself as a "non-aligned, trans-religious progressive". As founder of the Agape Spiritual Center, he works to build spiritual tolerance across the world and to further the understanding of how humanity can evolve to fulfill its highest potential. His enlightened, passionate dedication has received recognition from many international spiritual leaders, including the Dalai Lama, who have partnered with him in his work. He also teaches meditation and conducts retreats and seminars and has much experience of helping individuals overcome the obstacles that hold them back from creating the life they want to lead. 
Rev. Michael Beckwith has a place close to my heart because I once heard him say something amazing that I have never forgotten and that has guided me through some of the toughest times of my life. He was talking about those times that are familiar to all of us, when we feel trapped in a difficult situation. We may feel angry, upset, negative. We may feel we are victims of an injustice. We may believe that other people, or the world, has done something terrible to us and life just isn't fair. Know those times? Well the amazing thing that Michael Beckwith said was that when you find yourself in a situation like this, behave as though you will have to remain in that situation for the rest of your life Amazing, right? Think about it, if you do what the Rev. Beckwith says, you will be reacting to a difficult situation as the best person you can be----your highest self and your deepest wisdom will come into play and guide you. Not because behaving like this transforms you into some sort of angel. No. But out of self-preservation, you think, for example, if I'm going to have to deal with this so-and-so who has done me such a wrong, every day for the rest of my life, I'd better not react in a way that makes things even worse for myself. Then you realise you need not lash out in destructive rage, or wallow in self-pity. You understand that you need to be constructive in all situations, no matter how difficult that is. And so, you stop being your own worst enemy. You start doing what an older and wiser person might advise you to do. Rock on Rev. Beckwith...I'll be eternally grateful for that golden nugget which has helped me stay out of trouble so many times!
