Debt Reduction

What has debt reduction got to do with the Law of Attraction? Isn't the Law of Attraction all about posititve thinking and not focusing on what you don't want?

Yes, it is. But this does not mean that you should deal with debt problems by ignoring them, or sweeping them under the carpet.

Denial is not the same as positive thinking.

If you have a debt problem, you must address it and deal with it, as well as using the law of attraction to create future wealth.

The point is, you shouldn't dwell on your debt. You shouldn't let it stop you moving forward and creating a better future. You shouldn't let it sap your energy. You should never let the Big Bad Debt Monster move into your head, with his big bad baggage and take up all of your headspace, destroy your peace of mind and make you into a fearful, nervous, negative person, useless for anything.

The only way to deal with debt is debt reduction.

The Law of Attraction is not magical thinking. If your mortgage is in arrears, your house will be repossessed if you do not address that and start making those repayments again! You must act on the problems you have already attracted into your life----otherwise, you will continue to attract more of them and find yourself in a quagmire of debt.

It is a mistake to think that if you ignore a bill, or payment demand that you are therefore "not focussing on it" and therefore not attracting more negativity.

Not true!

If you are in money trouble, I assure you, those problems will be bubbling away under the surface in your subconscious mind, whether you know it or not. You can't fool yourself that easily! Your debt will be leaking away your strength and psychic energy 24/7, even while you sleep, if you do not address it. It will steal your focus and attention, even while you deny that you are giving it any attention. That's how us humans are made!

So, confront Debt Monster in your hallway, by taking action to address your debt issues consciously and with all the wisdom and awareness of your higher self.

Ducking and diving debt collectors is not the way to attract wealth and all the good things of the world into your life. Being an upfront person of integrity, who can acknowledge and take responsibility for the problems you have gotten into, is a much better option.

When you address your debt responsibly, in a non-fearful, non-evasive, honest, straight, open way, you can only attract good things to you. You need never be afraid of dealing with debt in this manner. This will bring you closer to wealth than denying your debt and allowing it to be master of your life.

So, how can you deal with debt in a way that will not attract more debt?

A program of debt reduction undertaken in a planned, systematic way will immediately change the dynamic of your situation for the better. Take control of your debt and you will immediately feel the relief of doing so. Negotiate the best deal you can with your creditors and work hard to meet your commitments to them. Then it's all good. Then your debt stops stealing your attention. Then you can be unencumbered, as you focus on wealth building and positivity. Then you will feel good, instead of feeling bad about the debt you are trying to not focus on! And we all know that feeling good is the best way to attract more good things to us! When you start paying back your debt, however slowly, you are reducing it and in a practical way bringing yourself closer towards wealth and abundance by doing so.

The Law of Attraction is much more complex than people realise. Its critics often misunderstand it as being simplistic and therefore not credible. Its fans often get frustrated because it does not work for them, when they only have a simplistic understanding of it.

It is far too simplistic to think that you can focus on wealth building, while refusing to work out a way of paying your mounting credit card, or mortgage arrears and refusing to embark on a sensible program of debt reduction! When you have a real-world problem knocking at your door, you have to get real, and deal with it in the real world, as well as in your head!

The best advice I have ever come across on how to deal with debt is from Bob Proctor in The Secret. In his typical, straight-talking way, this is what Bob says:

"Most people have a goal of getting out of debt. That will keep you in debt forever. Whatever you're thinking about, you will attract. You say, But it's get out of debt. I don't care if it's get out or get in, if you're thinking debt, you're attracting debt. Set up an automatic debt repayment program and then start to focus on prosperity."

Now, did the great Mr Proctor say ignore your debt, stuff those bills behind the sofa and train the kids to duck down and stay quiet when the debt-collector calls to the door? Did the great Mr Proctor say don't do anything about your debt, just focus on prosperity?

No. He said deal with the debt and then get on with focusing on prosperity! Did he say deal with the debt by thinking wealthy thoughts? Did he say deal with the debt by thinking yourself out of it?

No. The great Mr Proctor, the most experienced teacher of the Law of Attraction, said Set up an automatic debt repayment program and then start to focus on prosperity

This means work out your own debt reduction plan---how you are going to deal with your debt, agree an amount with your creditors, arrange for your bank to make the payments from your account, make sure the money is there, so you don't have to deal with this whole issue again, and then get on with your life! Then build your wealth and create the beautiful, abundant life you so desire.

When you deal with debt and don't deny it, you become free to move on to greater things. If you refuse to deal with it realistically, you can never consign it to your past----you make it a running problem in your present. If you don't take a pro-active approach to debt reduction, debt reduction will take a pro-active approach to you and will in time, overwhelm you.

Debt Reduction and Staying Calm

When tackling the issue of debt reduction, you need, above all, to have a clear head. You are probably feeling panicky and terrified, as anybody would be. But this is not the state of mind in which you can make the best decisions about your situation.

You need clarity and foresight. You need to have your wits about you and be in tune with your inner wisdom, your intuition. These things will guide you through the obstacles on the rocky road are travelling.

When you are calm and strong in yourself, you are in a better position to negotiate with others. Being panicked, afraid and coming across as helpless, or irresponsible, will not help your case. The stronger you are the more leverage you have. Inspire confidence in others that you can and will cope. That you are worthy of being given the time and space to get your affairs sorted. That you are capable of keeping to a debt reduction plan. That you are committed to doing so.

Meditation is one of the best ways to get in touch with your own core of inner strength and attain the clarity of thought that you need at times of difficulty. Meditation may be the last thing you feel like doing in the middle of all the chaos you may be in, but it really is worth the effort.

Meditation helps us reach a state of deep restfulness, where our brainwaves actually alter. When we practise meditation for 20 minutes, it feeds into our entire day, helping us be clearer and calmer and more aware. It trains our mind not to just react to circumstances.

We become self-aware and thus can master how we react. We become aware of how our thoughts work and we stop feeding patterns of negative thought. We become aware of our feelings and emotions.

In this way, we come into possession of our true Selves---we become self-possessed, not possessed by our problems and worries. We can be more objective and strategic about what to do about our debt. We learn to see things as they really are. This is a great advantage in all situations, and when we are in the middle of money problems, this is what we need to be able to do.

Meditation is a great spiritual tool. But it is also a great practical tool in clearing and training the mind. Through it, we come to know ourselves and know that we can cope with whatever comes our way. We will always know what is the best thing to do. Looking inside for guidance is often the best way out of a difficult situation. Meditation allows us to do that.
